Marine Graduation...Vacation!

It was a loooooong drive and three days of continuous travel...11 hours to NC, we got to sleep for about 10 hours Wednesday night--after getting to my grandparents around 1915 having some Bojangles fries (so yummy) and talking for a bit--before getting up having to drive 20 minutes the wrong way to pick up the vehicle we would be driving down to pick up my other grandparents and great-aunt before going to lunch with Mrs. B and LB. We had a great lunch...Gibbs or "Peachy Sunrice" our travel companion got a picture at Chipotle before we headed out for SC...
Of course it didn't quite go as planned because my cousin had a little melt down right before we got there because she thought we weren't coming until later/not taking the "old people" until after they finished catering....soooo we had to help cater/wait an extra five hours before heading down to SC...we got to the hotel at midnight instead of around 6 p.m like I was wanting.

The next day didn't go as expected either. The graduation lasted about five minutes due to "inclimate weather" that last five minutes. Instead of moving the graduation into the all weather building on the base, where they had practiced the graduation, they just decided to cancel it and let everyone go. So we drove 16 hours for a five minute ceremony.
Gibbs "Peachy Sunrise" in SC.
So after the ceremony and getting C's stuff we went to Cracker Barrel for lunch because that's where he wanted to go before heading the 5 hours back home. -.- My poor husband was so exhausted and tired of driving!!!

Saturday was a lot better. PAR-TAY! We got to see friends and family--and my brother and his idiot friends and their nice bikini-clad girlfriends (wife in one friends case) I mean this sarcastically of course (the "nice" part). Anyway, it was nice and we had a nice time seeing Z and AM.

Sunday was no good. My husband got sick, no energy a real bad headache etc. The bad thing was I drug him to both Sunday morning and night services, but we did skip Sunday school and I took him home instead of to my grandparents where we were having another party. Bless his heart he was so pitiful. The only reason we went to the P.M service was because my mom wanted to take our Christmas picture--which didn't happen.

Monday was a nice day, he felt better and we went swimming at my grandparent's house and he got a lovely sunburn on his right shoulder and not really anywhere else...poor white boy. It was good to get an extra day. He took a sick day on Tuesday and we drove back then.

Pictures of Gibbs on the way down and back and some others of the trip are below.

Two more days!!

Only two more days until we head to NC!! I'm so excited to see my family...I'm cleaning and packing some today...I'm without a car and laptop right now which sucks...I hopefully will have both back soon. We also have another travel weekend in August. Friends are getting married in PA so we are going to their wedding...possibly camping instead of getting a hotel which I am a bit wary about because a camp site/park bathroom is not where I want to get ready to go to a wedding at...we will have to wait and see.

Our time at home will be rather busy...especially Thursday and Friday. I hope we can see people that we want to see that's not family and that won't be at the graduation or party on Saturday. Thursday will consist of a lot of driving, after we have already driven half a day down there on Wednesday. I'll have audiobooks and music to keep me occupied...I'll try to find an audiobook for my husband as well. Thank you audible!

10 Days to NC

Next Wednesday, the 17th of July, we will be heading down to my home in NC. I miss my family and my home and I won't have much time to visit with my family and friends...since the purpose we are going down is to see my brother graduate from Boot Camp...the base is 7 hours away from my parents home so that will take most of our Thursday traveling, after traveling 12 hours to NC the day before.

Winston-Salem:
Home of the prototype of the Empire State Building
Home of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

They have _____ in NC/The South:
Cheer wine

Bojangles--best food ever! I always get a cajun chicken biscuit with fries and a Dr. Pepper.
And so many other good things the North doesn't have....mainly Bojangles.
